About Jimmy’s HideAway
We serve inspired American cooking with European touches in our romantic subterranean haunt with fully-stocked bar. Or dine outdoors on our patio or picnic tables with spectacular views of Provincetown Harbor!
Some of our tables are high-top tables with taller, barstool-type chairs with backs. Please let us know if you are unable to sit at this type of table or if you would prefer a regular, lower table.
In the event of inclement weather, reservations booked outside will be cancelled. We will do our best to move your reservation indoors, but it is not guaranteed.
If you are running late, please call the restaurant at 508-487-1011. We hold the table for a grace period of 15 minutes before offering the reservation to our waitlist.

Christen Barford
Proud transgender woman blazing her own path. She was born in England and moved to the States at the age of 12. She spent most of her life in Georgia, she was married and raised 4 beautiful daughters. She worked for 36 years at the family business in engineering. Once the family business was sold and she retired at the age of 58 she came out as a transgender woman.
Christen’s first visit to Provincetown MA was in 2021. Captivated by the charm of its streets, the warmth and acceptance of the people, she fell in love with Provincetown.
It is a running joke that she was having a meal at Jimmy’s HideAway when Jimmy said he was ready to retire. Christen said she was not ready to retire and would buy the restaurant and take care of it so Jimmy could go enjoy retirement. That is not exactly how it went but one year later and a lot of negotiating Christen closed in April of 2023.
She knew she had bought a gem of a restaurant in Provincetown. She had a meeting with the staff, asked them to be a part of her journey not only in the restaurant but in her life as a transgender woman. They all agreed to stay on. If you have been to Jimmy’s HideAway you know that the same staff has worked there for years. They truly are the glue that holds the HideAway together. Christen kept the menu the same and of course kept the same great atmosphere the you always find at Jimmy’s HideAway.
The 2023 season came with its challenges. Christen suffered a stroke in April of 2023. Despite swiftly recovering from a stroke, she encountered ongoing challenges while navigating the responsibility of owning a new restaurant. The staff and her business partner Wendy Agbay really stepped to the plate and made it a great season. Christen was able to focus on recovery and getting back on her feet.
She is definitely back on her feet and blazing her own path.
We are all optimistic about the future at Jimmy’s HideAway as we continue to thrive and grow in this beautiful town called Provincetown.
